These images are salvaged from acres of discarded farm implements just north of Interstate 80 in central Iowa.

Normally parts of implements are salvaged as replacements for broken ones, going on to lead a new life in another machine. The parts shown here have a different life, one never intended. They serve as models, palettes, and inspiration for the work.

The images salvaged from these parts are not documentation. They do not show the parts as they looked in the field or even in the camera. The final images are abstractions that show what I had hoped to create.

As an artist, the pleasure comes from transforming what was seen and captured into its final state. For the viewer I hope these images have yet another life and offer a new perspective.
